  • 40 cm circular needle (shorter than the cowl’s circumference) in your gauge size; a ; a tapestry needle.

13 stitches × 20 rows = 10 cm in the body stitch, after blocking.

Bottom border

72 stitches. Join in the round without twisting; place a beginning-of-round .

Work 8 rounds in 2×2 rib (*k2, p2*).

Next round, knit, adjusting the stitch count: k72, M1L. You now have 73 stitches.

Body

Knit every stitch for 34 rounds.

Top border

Next round, knit, adjusting the stitch count: k71, k2tog. You now have 72 stitches.

Work 8 rounds in 2×2 rib (*k2, p2*).
